ScreenCastsOnline and TeachMac Announce Collaboration

October 23, 2006Liverpool, UK and Grass Valley, CA

ScreenCastsOnline and TeachMac today announce an agreement to
make a portion of SCO’s video tutorial podcasts available as TeachMac
modules. These free modules will allow TeachMac users to easily
download and learn from Don McAllister’s popular weekly video tutorial
show.

TeachMac is a system that allows novices and power users to exchange
computing knowledge using free applications. Its modular design allows
users to assemble and reassemble lessons to fit their individual needs and
the needs of friends, family and coworkers quickly and easily. Using
Module Maker and a screen capture utility, anyone can create their own
lessons, and, if they choose, make them available online.
ScreenCastsOnline is a video podcast which publishes weekly video
tutorials, or screencasts, demonstrating how to get the most out of your
mac. ScreenCastsOnline offers both free video tutorials and
ScreenCastsOnline Extra!, a low cost membership scheme with high
definition videos and additional premium content available for Extra!
members.

With this agreement, TeachMac users gain access to most of SCO’s free
screencasts, and SCO gains a broader audience for its content. “Its a win
win,” says ScreenCastsOnline head Don McAllister. “TeachMac provides a
great environment for users to access a wealth of information easily, and
ScreenCastsOnline is delighted to contribute free content to TeachMac to
make ScreenCastsOnline accessible to a wider audience.”

“ScreenCastsOnline represents the pinnacle of quality within our
business,” says TeachMac head Byron Turner. “It’s a real boon to our
users to have ScreenCastsOnline tutorials available to them and it sets the
bar high for us and all of our contributors.”

ScreenCastsOnline content will begin showing up in the next version of
TeachMac due “very soon” according to Turner. As with all TeachMac
content, it is also available to Windows users through the Windows
version of its tutorial software, TeachIT, which will be released along with
the TeachMac update. To find out more, visit the two companies’ web sites.
